Attending the 68th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68) was a life-changing experience for me. It helped me gain a deeper understanding of the CEDAW and its profound global impact. Advocates, individuals and activists were given a strong forum to discuss the difficulties and advancements in achieving gender equality throughout the event.
CEDAW is an act of empowerment and hope for me. Discovering its broad structure, which tackles matters from health and education to legal rights, made me aware of the institutionalized obstacles that still prevent women from achieving their full potential across the globe.
As a newcomer, I was struck by the urgency and determination among participants to address persistent challenges. Discussions on the impact of climate change, economic disparities, and the digital divide on women underscored the interconnected nature of gender inequality and the need for holistic solutions. It was inspiring to witness the solidarity among diverse members committed to advancing CEDAW’s principles and holding governments accountable for their commitments.
CEDAW has ignited a fire within me—a passion to champion women’s rights and contribute meaningfully to a more just and equitable world. As I continue my journey in this movement, I carry with me the lessons learned and the unwavering belief that every woman deserves to live a life free from discrimination and full of opportunity.
